Arts Without Barriers

ARTS WITHOUT BARRIERS CELEBRATION

ARTS WITHOUT BARRIERS is a celebration of free, live performances at Eastside locations. In its inaugural year, the program featured local artists performing two-hour family friendly music sets! Originally intended to last 10 weeks, the program was so popular, it had several extensions that lasted a total of 9 months, reaching more than 60,000 audience members. The video below features a sampling of the many musicians who performed in this inaugural celebration.

This year, it is PACE’s intent to once again partner with Gigs4U to provide solo and duet live musical experiences. However, Gigs4U will not be our only arts partner. Shining a spotlight on the amazing arts organizations on the Eastside, PACE has engaged in conversation with NM Entertainment, Sustain Music Project, and Lake Washington Symphony Orchestra to feature their work as well.

Like last year, every performance will be free of charge to the public, family friendly, and located in areas either with high foot traffic or where large community gathers. Once again, the celebration is scheduled to take place in the Spring with a 9-week performance structure opening April 4 and closing June 5.

PARTNERS AND COLLABORATORS

Artists interested in being a part of the Gigs4U roster are invited to apply via our artist intake form.
Submissions are reviewed, curated and cataloged. If a gig or a program presents itself that is a good match for the artist, the artist is contacted, and the onboarding process begins.

SPONSORS

It is through the generous support of these fine sponsors that this year’s ARTS WITHOUT BARRIERS Celebration is made possible:

COVID SAFETY

PACE is excited to bring some joyful sound back to our region! Yet we also take the virus, and the restrictions in place to help curb the pandemic, very seriously. Our programming partner, Gigs4U, participated in the development of the Washington state guidelines for performing arts reopening and are perfectly positioned to execute all requirements and good judgement. In fact, the Gigs4U policies and protocols are more conservative than the official state guidelines.

These are busking-type performances that do not draw dense standing crowds. We are creating background music in a controlled environment for the enjoyment of passersby from a safe distance. Gigs4U actively manages the performances including sterilizing all equipment, providing sanitizing products for all staff and musicians, actively managing performance locations to create and maintain safe social distancing between the performers and any folks nearby, and more. Gigs4U maintains weekly communication with reopening authorities in the major metropolitan areas, King County, and the Governor’s office to stay informed of developments and best practices.
